GSF ambassador, Melissa Reid, has triumphed in the recent ISA World Para Surfing Championships in Huntingdon Beach, California, coming home with a silver medal.
Melissa, born and bred in Porthtowan, Cornwall, is partially-sighted and uses her best buddy and fellow para athlete Zoe Smith as her 'eyes' to tell her when a wave is coming.
Not content with succeeding in just one area, Melissa is quite an all-rounder and also used to compete in triathlons - winning bronze in Tokyo in 2021 - until injury steered her towards surfing instead.
She first received GSF funding in 2017 and says it was vital in helping her to train in local gyms and pools.
Melissa comments, "It's great being an ambassador for GSF. I'd love to play more of a role in getting disabled women specifically enjoying sport and knowing that, with the right support and attitude, it's possible to achieve your goals."
We're very proud to work with Melissa, she's an inspiration to everyone she meets!
